To Face the Ugly Deed
Chapter Eight
(Nebard)

\...
I left the house as my wife started speaking about what she saw of it. The words disturbed me, as she was the one that put everything as it was. Moving through the community I heard talk of everything from us needing to relocate, prepare for war, to building a church. People called to me asking about Eashae as I stopped to make my own sense of things. Not being able to answer, I saw a strange man with some elder ladies carrying food and headed to them.

Elder Thamoss had a barn, and seeing them head in that direction I ran ahead to open the door. The lady with the red and yellow hair was inside moving with her sword, but stopped seeing me. I pushed open the door for the others to pass while speaking to the one already present.

“I want to know what you did.”

Nebard has to face a major decision.

To Face the Ugly Deed
Chapter Six
(Nebard)

Priven did speak to his mother. I found out when my mother brought him and his mother to my barn. I was worried about a mother goat that I felt was carrying triplets. When I mentioned the situation to the others, Priven’s mother spoke a reply.

“You are being blessed, Nebard. However, just like your mother goat is going to have difficulties, your blessing will come with troubles as well. I am telling Priven, and now telling you, to see them through.”

Nagging Problems

The next morning I felt that Lasotherral had listened to my advice and not Chamorrick. She was the one that had a pleasant attitude. My half-brother was not negative, but I gained the impression that he had been up late attempting to solve certain problems by himself. Considering the challenge he had set before him, I could not fault him, but as one providing what had been shown to be good advice I felt he should have had some comfort in my instructions.

Advice from Rabbit

Both Chamorrick and King Naderron tried to get the Ice Queen to say more. I did not get the impression she was denying them, but honestly did not know what to tell them. From what I knew of the fey, I felt that there were things that could be concluded even as the mix with Chamorrick's wealth of different traits could affect his offspring in a multitude of unforeseeable ways. I thus found myself quiet as my father and half-brother tried to interrogate the Ice Queen.

Thoughts of Women

Finally, a hand movement from a guard that walked up a staircase just enough to be seen let us know to head to the front courtyard. I felt good as Queanay did not argue with my change of directions. As we walked I restated some of what she told me about some pieces of art just to let her know I had been listening.

Salvation in Dance

As we were being served cups of steaming ale as a final course, the Ice Queen said, "Well, I guess there is no need for the string quartet. Since they have been gathered, I would at least like to hear one piece."

From the main doorway came the voice of Lasotherral. "No, please, I will dance. I however will not dance with Prince Chamorrick, but with Prince Kevin."

It was the Ice Queen that asked, "And the reason for that decision?"
